Woohoo!!! Hello everyone!!! You could tell I’m over the moon as Elizabeth Yarnold won us Gold for Team GB, which is the best day to have ever seen the first gold medal for Great Britain. I had high hopes that we would eventually win gold during these Winter Olympics, and today was that day. This week has seen the most determination for all events, and continues to do so over the course of next week, leading up to the Closing Ceremony on the 23rd February.

Here is a quick summary which highlights todays events as they unfolded:

  • Elizabeth Yarnold, the Skeleton slider, won Team GB Gold, making this the first gold for Britain for Sochi 2014. She has also secured Great Britain and Team GB the 10th Gold in Winter Olympic history.
  • The Team GB team-mate, Shelley Rudman finished 16th in Skeleton.
  • For the Skeleton event, GB’s Kristan Bromley tied at 8th, while Dom Parsons tied at 10th after 2/4 runs.
  • GB’s men beat Denmark 8-6, and Team GB’s women beat Japan 12-3.
