The End of an Era.

After 178 years, the travel agent/airline, Thomas Cook, known originally as Thomas Cook & Son, sadly closed its doors for the last time on the 23rd September, with 30,000+ jobs lost and an enormous amount of passengers stranded abroad as a result of cancelled flights.

It was such a sad sight to see Thomas Cook’s’ travel agent block outside Croydon Whitgift Centre empty and desolate, and I cannot imagine how heartbroken the staff who worked for Thomas Cook feel now they’ve lost their jobs, but I also cannot begin to even comprehend how all the passengers stranded abroad must be feeling.

I’ve never been abroad and I’m really hoping to possibly next year, but I sympathise with all the cabin crew, all the staff that worked for Thomas Cook and all the customers who have now had to face the predicament of what to do now that the airline has officially ceased operation.

It’s the end of an era.

Were you affected by the closure of the airline/travel agent or were you affected by the company ceasing operation after working with them for a long time?

Please feel free to sound off in the comments below.

Again, my heart goes out to all the cabin crew, staff and passengers affected at this time.
