My Note to All Panic Buyers!

Please, if you’re reading this and you’ve been panic buying, please stop it!

This ongoing pandemic is frightening to us all, and I understand all of you are worried and frightened, but please think about the people who are most vulnerable to COVID-19; the elderly, cancer sufferers who have been through chemotherapy and especially cancer survivors.

Please, also consider anyone who is registered disabled and may have hidden disabilities, including anyone with underlying health conditions.

In a time where we all need to come together, the last thing I need to see is panic buyers putting anyone, both young and old, at risk of contracting the virus.

We’ve all got families to go home to, some of whom are/may have any of the conditions/lifelong illnesses mentioned above/below.

They have considerably weaker immune systems than the rest of us, and are more vulnerable and need these products more than you do.

I’m speaking out because, as I said previously, my mum suffers from Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, has a weaker immune system as a result of a relapse she’s been going through and takes tablets for her blood pressure, and fluoxetine for severe clinical depression.

In contrast, my dad has to take blood pressure tablets to maintain his blood pressure.

I know it doesn’t go without saying anyone else may have the same conditions or similar conditions, that I acknowledge.

However, please start being considerate and stop panic buying, because the rest of us are struggling and are worried enough as it is, and all I ask is for you to be thoughtful.

I do not intend this as a personal attack on any of you who are panic buying.

I’m asking if you can please be considerate and think of the people who need what you’re buying more than yourself.

Ignorance kills, only you can prevent it and again, please don’t think I’m horrible, I’m as frightened as you are and want you to know I am worried and care the same about everyone and everything and I care about all of you.

  1. I can understand your concern. I too feel the same. We have been trying for the past 1 1/2 months to get hand sanitizers, and other sanitizing wipes and cleaners but no luck. everything is out of stock. I am prone to upper respiratory infections and don’t go out too often and when I do go to get essentials, I find empty shelves!

    1. I hope you don’t end up being struck down with the virus as your health and well-being are paramount.

I’m frustrated with the panic buyers, prominent billionaires and white-collar workers line their pockets with money rather than actually helping us all in this time of need when a pandemic as frightening as this is more likely to affect young/old people the most.

Some of the stores where I live were accurately like you described, empty shelves, items of the same type being limited to 1 per person, with some people even going as far as to get into arguments and punch-ups with other people who needed it the most.

Please keep me posted on how you get on Joycee, and I hope you stay safe during this pandemic.
