It is with great sadness to announce the devastating news that Sarah Harding of Girls Aloud has passed away at 39.
Growing up as a massive fan listening to Girls Aloud, Sarah’s positive energy inspired me during the ten years Girls Aloud were together and even now, listening to Girls Aloud, especially with Sarah, alongside Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts & Kimberley Walsh, she was a force to be reckoned with and with an impressive vocal range her positive energy and her voice was impeccable!
It was absolutely devastating hearing the news at work earlier after my Sky News’ app notified me of Sarah Harding passing away as she opened up last August about her breast cancer diagnosis during the pandemic, and I’ll admit I took a few minutes to process the news just after it was announced as you never think it’s going to be someone you look up to for inspiration, and I got quite choked up as a result of the devastating news, and for Sarah and Girls Aloud, I look up to all of them as the biggest inspirations they truly are because their music uplifts me to keep pushing myself to achieve my dreams and allows me to be myself, and Sarah Harding was truly one of the most inspirational women around.
Sarah’s mother, Marie, announced the news via Sarah Harding’s official Instagram account this morning:
A message from Sarah’s mum
“It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day. She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved. I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead.
– Marie x”
She’ll forever live on in spirit in our hearts as she will never be forgotten for her positive energy and her ability to bring smiles and hope and inspirational wisdom to every one of us.
We’ll miss you so dearly, Sarah, but you’ll forever live on in our hearts and heaven has gained an angel and you’ll always be remembered for inspiring all of us to keep believing in ourselves!
